Q:
Can you monitor
other companies' equipment?
A: It depends. Some companies
install proprietary equipment that cannot be monitored by anyone else.
Some homes have older equipment that needs to be upgraded. In either
case, we have special offers for monitoring existing systems, based on
individual circumstances. Reduced rates for monitoring only are
available.

consultant for details.
Q:
Can other
companies' monitor your equipment?
A: Yes, unlike other companies
which use a proprietary system, Protech-ADT installs the Ademco Vista
series panels which can easily be monitored by any central station.
Q:
Do I own the system?
A: Yes, the system is yours to
keep. Protech-ADT's only requirement is that you fulfill a 36-month
monitoring agreement. This can be paid on a monthly basis, or if you
prefer, paid in advance and get three months monitoring for free.
Q:
Will the value of my home
increase?
A: Appraisers tell us that
installing a monitored security system can increase the value of a home
by several thousand dollars or more. While individual circumstances may
vary, systems quite often increase the value of a home by more than
their cost.
Q:
What
if I want more than what your basic system covers?
A: While our essential system
package is adequate for most homes, larger ones may require additional
equipment for proper protection. We also have popular options such as
key tabs and monitored smoke detectors available. All of our equipment
is state-of-the-art and competitively priced.
Q:
Will I get a
discount on my homeowners insurance?
A: Most insurance companies offer
homeowners a discount of up to 15% or more on homes with monitored
security systems. Check with your insurance agent.
Q:
What if I am robbed?
A: If your home is burglarized while
protected by ADT, you may be eligible for up to $500.00 towards your
insurance deductible.
Q:
If I move, will I have to pay again to put a security system in my new
house?
A: If you've already enjoyed
ADT services for at least two years, then ADT will install an essential
system in your new home as part of the System for Life Guarantee.
Q:
Why do I have to agree to three years of monitoring service?
A: Some people feel that
signing an agreement for monitoring service is not a wise choice for
consumers. In some cases we would agree. If you mistakenly choose a
company that is unprofessional, unreliable or not financially stable,
what recourse would you have? ADT's short 36 month agreement allows us
to provide you and your family with our essential system with the
finest, state-of-the-art equipment completely installed in your home for
a $99 activation fee and no cost for the equipment and installation.
Most homeowners appreciate being able to conserve their hard-earned
cash. Plus, you get the reliability and stability of monitoring by the
largest and oldest security company in the world -- ADT.
Q:
When can I have my system installed and how long does it take?
A: Most systems are
installed within three days after signing the agreement. Our essential
system is usually completely installed in about six hours. Power and
telephone service must be available at the time of installation.
Q:
Who do I call if my
system malfunctions?
A: ADT technicians at all of
our monitoring stations are available 24 hours per day, 365 days a
year. One simple toll-free call (1-800-369-0996) puts you in contact
with the help you need, whatever the reason.
Q:
How do I change
the people on my call list?
A: It's simple. Call the ADT
Customer Care Center at 1-800-369-0996 with your changes. Have your
personal identification code ready in order to make your changes. Make
sure to tell everyone on your call list what to do in case they receive
a call from ADT.
Q:
My alarm went off accidentally, but I quickly put in the code and shut
it off. I expected a call from ADT, but no one called. Why not?
A: The system allows a brief period for you to turn off your
system before an alarm signal is sent to the Customer Care Center. This
gives you enough time to cancel the signal and prevent a false alarm.
Q:
What happens when I press the panic or fire alarm buttons on the touch
pad?
A: If you hold down the panic
or fire alarm buttons on the touch pad for 1 to 3 seconds, an alarm is
transmitted to the ADT Customer Care Center, and emergency services are
dispatched immediately. An alarm received in this manner cannot be
canceled.
Q:
If the power
goes off, will my alarm still work?
A: Yes, in case of a power
loss, the back-up battery will activate to maintain your alarm
protection for several hours. In the event your battery is low, a low
battery signal will be sent to your Customer Care Center so you can be
notified.
